Educational Tours

College Tour Groups

University • Seminary • Foreign Students

Each year at Brazos de Dios, we host students from various colleges and universities. Professors from Baylor University, Dallas Baptist University and Mary Hardin Baylor bring their religion and sociology classes as well as foreign student groups to see our religious community. Here, these visitors have the opportunity to see a community of people endeavoring to reclaim traditional Christian family values and the essential skills of life that are rapidly diminishing in our technological culture. During these special tours students ask and receive answers to a wide scope of questions about our community's way of life and our religious beliefs. Each year we also host university−related groups such as the Baylor Board of Regents wives and Baylor Parents Day activities.

At our Traditional Craft Village and surrounding farm, we offer a variety of tours, activities and food services for college students and related groups. For information on scheduling a college tour group, please call us at 254/754−9600.

Spring Field Trips

Public School • Private School • Home School

An average of 5,000 public− and private−school children and home school support groups visit Brazos de Dios annually on spring field trips. Here, many see and experience for the first time the simplicity of an alternative culture based on quality craftsmanship and agricultural skills within a community of service and care.

Tour activities include a horse−drawn hayride, a sheep dog demonstration and a guided tour to see farm animals and to visit our petting pen. Craftsmen and apprentices demonstrate various crafts such as spinning, blacksmithing, pottery, and woodworking using natural materials and basic hand tools.

We conduct these tours every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from mid−March through May. Reservations are required, and we begin setting our schedule the first week in January of each year. We operate on a first−come, first−served basis.

For information about our educational tours, call 254/722−7923. Our spring tour calendar fills up very quickly. Call early in the year to make your arrangements.
